UNITED NATIONS PEACE AMBASSADOR CALL ON NIGERIANS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FORTHCOMING 2023 GENERAL ELECTION
Amb. Agim Godwin Apple, of the Human Rights Watch and Youth Empowerment Foundation in Nigeria made this statement during a meeting with his Vice-President Amb. Sarki Tijjani and the Secretary-General Amb. Valentine Unimuke, recently in Kano Nigeria.
During his statement, he stated that, as a citizen of Nigeria concerned, there is a need for you to know why it is important to you, to actively partake in the forthcoming general election.
It has come to the notice of the Human Rights Watch and Youth Empowerment that some citizens has developed a lackadaisical attitude towards the forthcoming general elections, due to unconcerned political behavior of some leaders, makes them subscribed to the submission that their participation would not yield any positive outcomes, not knowing that it is when they participated, they could be able to have good leaders.
Voting in an Election is one of the civic responsibilities of every citizen and it is what entails individual voting for those who will govern them.
As such, we are calling the attention of every qualified individual, who possesses all the prerequisites for becoming a qualified voter, to actively participate in the forthcoming election.
It is believed that chaos in politics, ruling arbitrarily to law by rulers, and bad governance are among the factors necessitated some individuals loosing interest in partaking in an election, but failing to participate in election by electing a qualified candidate is among the causative agents of unhealthy political system.
Do not ever think that a one vote in a sea of millions can not make a difference.
Your vote may not directly elect a leader, but if your vote joins enough others in voting a particular candidate, your vote undoubtedly matters when it comes to electoral results.
Participating in elections is one of the key freedoms of a citizen, as this is the only way that your leaders will enhance your interest and have it protected.
